Easter story at St Mark's Church
Lesson: Religious education
Class: Year 2 Year: 2025 - 2026
This week Year 2 visited St Mark's church where we were participated in an Easter carousel. The carousel told us 6 different parts of the Easter story.
The children learned what happened on Palm Sunday and talked about their hopes and dreams, which linked to the hopes and dreams of Jesus.
Then they were taught how Jesus washed his friends’ feet, even though he was called a king, which told us that everyone is equal and no-one person is more important than another person.
After that they visited the Last Supper- this is when Jesus told his friends what was going to happen to him. Here the children thought special memories.
Next, they went to the garden of Gethsemane, where children explored who was important in their lives.
Then the children visited the cross and this part was a time of reflection to think of those who sadly may not be here or present in our lives but a time to remember the good times.
Finally, they went to the resurrection area, and children learnt that the egg symbolises new beginnings just like Jesus' new beginning at the right hand of God.
Before we arrived at the church, we went to Arcadia Library and were told a story and were able to take a book to read.
