Apply for a school place at Alma Park Primary School
We are delighted that you are interested in joining Alma Park. We welcome all inquiries about admissions and warmly invite parents to visit the school. Please get in touch with our school office to discuss any further details and arrange an appointment.
We are a very popular, local school which closely reflects the community of Levenshulme. We often have places become available, and we always do our best to find places for all siblings to keep families together in the same school.
Nursery Places:
If your child is 3 before 31st August, your child is eligible for Nursery that upcoming September.
If your child’s date of birth is between the dates below, they can apply for Alma Park Nursery:
1st September 2022 to 31st August 2023 – Eligible for September 2026 – deadline 2nd February 2026
1st September 2023 to 31st August 2024 – Eligible for September 2027
1st September 2024 to 31st August 2025 – Eligible for September 2028

Reception Places:
If your child is 4 before 31st August, your child is eligible for Reception that upcoming September.
If your child’s date of birth is between the dates below, they can apply for Alma Park Reception:
1st September 2021 to 31st August 2022 – Eligible for September 2026 – deadline 15th January 2026
1st September 2022 to 31st August 2023 – Eligible for September 2027
The application process for Alma Park Reception, September 2026, is through the Manchester City Council website, the deadline to apply is Wednesday, 15th January 2026, for the September 2026 intake.

Year 1 to Year 6 Places:
We often have places available however, all applications are subject to availability for Year 1 to Year 6 children.

Appeals Process
The appeals process for children in Reception to Year 6 is managed by Manchester City Council. Please refer to their website for more information. You cannot appeal for a Nursery place.

We are happy to talk to parents who would like their child to join our school. However, admission to Alma Park, other than at the start of Nursery, is managed by Manchester City Council.
The Council’s admission rules state that if a school has more applications than places, children are placed into one of the categories below. Priority is given to ‘category 1’ applicants, then to category 2, and so on, until there are no places left.
Category 1 - Children who are, or who have been, looked after by a local authority.
Category 2 - Children with exceptional medical or social needs, or a disabled parent.
Category 3 - Children with a sibling at the school.
Category 4 - All other children.
