Welcome
Welcome to Year 3! This year marks the end of KS1 as children move into KS2, opening up new possibilities to broaden their knowledge, skills and understanding throughout the curriculum. We will continue to develop children’s curiosity and nurture their passion and enthusiasm for learning. The Meet the Teacher PowerPoint can be found here
Here, you can find an overview of the Year 3 Curriculum. You can use this information to discuss with your child what they have learned and continue to support their learning at home.

Talk for Writing unit: Portal Story - The Stone Age Boy
Talk for Writing unit: Poem - The Magic Dust
History: Stone Age to Bronze Age.
We will be learning about how Britain changed during the Stone Age and the Bronze Age
Science: Rocks and Soils.
We will be looking the different types of rocks and solis and grouping them due to their properties.
Design Technology: Bread.
We will design and bake a healthy bread roll.
Computing: Connecting Computers.
We will look at how computer systems link and how this helps them work.
Religious Education: Who is Jewish and what do they believe in?
We will look at the Jewish faith, what it means to be Jewish and some of their celebrations.
PHSE:

Instrument focus: recorders
French: Introducing French.
We will be learning the names of classroom things, e.g. pens, pencils etc.
P.E:
Remember to come into school wearing your PE kit on the following days.

Outdoor Games - Friday
Kit: Trainers, black shorts or tight-fitting black leggings, and a plain white t-shirt (a tracksuit top and joggers may be worn if cold)

Dance and Gymnastics - Tuesday
We will be learning how to use leaps and turns as well as changing dynamics to create a routine
Kit: Black shorts or tight-fitting black leggings and a plain white t-shirt.
Forest Schools:
Forest Schools for Year 3 will be arranged soon. Please ensure your child comes on clothes that can get muddy, sensible outdoor shoes, warm clothes if cold and a water-proof coat.
Reading:
In class we are currently reading:

Please read with your child every day and comment in their reading record when you do. Reading books should be in school everyday for independent reading and will be changed regularly.
Homework:
Spellings will be sent out every Friday to learn for a spelling test the following Friday (3B) and sent out every Thursday to learn for a spelling test the following Thursday (3B Fridays).
