SEND

“Pupils with SEND follow the same curriculum as their peers and are fully involved in all aspects of school life.”

Ofsted, 2023

We are proud to be regarded as a model of inclusion for all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities. We believe that all children have the right to learn together in an integrated and harmonious environment.

Our aim is to allow all children to participate in the life and work of the school to the best of their abilities, whatever their needs. To achieve this, we invest the time and effort in getting to know our pupils, deepening our understanding of their unique challenges and strengths.

With this in-depth understanding, we aim to ensure that all pupils reach their full potential through a variety of established systems, including additional support staff and evidence-based interventions. This inclusive approach fosters a positive and purposeful learning environment, in which every child can achieve their best.

Guidance for Parents

As we are keen to work in partnership with parents and carers to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children at Alma Park, we have added a few articles generated by Twinkl aimed at supporting parents with information relating to learning differences and additional needs. Although these have not been written by staff at Alma Park, and each school has their own ways of working, we feel these are a good starting point for parents who want to better understand their child’s differences. These are in no way intended to be diagnostic tools, but more to equip parents with information for support strategies at home. Where parents feel that any differences may present a barrier to learning, please do speak to the class teacher in the first instance.
