Year 3 Home learning- for Monday 19th – Wednesday 21st July 2021

 

English

For the next few days, you will be exploring stories shared across the world through Drama.

There are four lessons to complete so work through them at your own pace completing as many as you can.

 

Lesson 1: The beginning of the world

In this lesson, we will look at a Mayan creation myth, which tells us how the world came into being and how man was made.

In this lesson, we will be in role as dragons from the myths of different countries.

In this lesson, we will be in role as giants exploring key moments from different myths from around the globe.

Lesson 4: Stealing fire

In this lesson, we will consider the often-found myth of a hero stealing fire from the gods

Maths

For the last couple of days, we would like you to use Mathletics and TTRockstars to practise your Maths.

Maths

This week we will be looking at Angles and Shape.

There are five lessons to complete so work through them at your own pace completing as many as you can.

Lesson 1: To identify and recognise angles

In this lesson, we will look at what the word ‘angle’ means and begin to identify angles within objects and shapes.

Lesson 2: To identify angles in 2D shapes

In this lesson, we will review what an angle is and we will begin to explore various angles that are found inside 2-D shapes.

Lesson 3: To recognise right angles

In this lesson, we will be building on your angles learning and focusing specifically on right angles. We will explore these on their own, in shapes and in everyday objects.

Lesson 4: To recognise obtuse and acute angles

In this lesson, we will be building on our angle knowledge by introducing the terms acute and obtuse for those angles which are smaller (acute) and greater (obtuse) than right-angles.

Lesson 5: To revise angles

In this lesson, we will be revisiting our angles learning from this week. We will revise what is meant by right, acute and obtuse angles. We will then have an opportunity to identify these angles and draw them.

Science

Following on from our science lessons in school, we would like you to recap our work on bones (working through the lesson presentation) before completing the worksheet.

When completing the worksheet, choose the level that best suits you! 1 star is the easiest; 3 is the hardest.

Other activities you could do:

  • Draw and label your own skeleton
  • Make a skeleton at home using different materials – e.g cotton buds, sticks etc

Welcome to our year group page. Here you will get a taste of what is happening in our classrooms each half term.

Use the information shared to discuss with your child what learning will take place. 

This half term we are continuing with some of the topics we haven't yet finished! In addition to some brilliant Maths and English we will also be doing lots more super learning on topics such as: 

Topic- Rivers and rainforests

Science- Plants

PE:

3H have outdoor games on Wednesday and PE in the Hall on Thursday.

3F have outdoor games on Wednesday and PE in the Hall on Friday.

Remember to come into school wearing your PE kit on those days!

 

Reading books: please read with your child every day and comment in their reading record when you do. Reading books should be in school everyday for independent reading and will be changed every Monday.
