"Achievement Partnership Success"

RSC 2019 - 2020

Mrs Coyne

Mrs Sweeney

Welcome to RSC

The teachers of RSC are Mrs Sweeney and Mrs Coyne.  The teaching assistant is Ms Chowdhury.

Maths

In maths we are focussing on addition and subtraction of single digit numbers, and writing number sentences.

We will also be learning to count forwards and backwards between 0-20.

In addition to this we will be practising finding one more and one less than a number between 0-20.

Reading

We aim to change our reading book at least once a week. It is important the children have their books in schools everyday so that we can hear the children read at any opportunity. Please read with your child daily and sign the reading record when you have done so.

We learn stories and texts through the 'Talk For Writing' approach. This includes learning a story off by heart using actions and expression, inovating the story and writing our own versions. Keep an eye out for the story maps in your child's brain builder. The children use these to help them retell the story.

Each child now has a Reading Eggs login and password so they can access online reading and comprehension activities on a computer or tablet at home. Please use the link below.

Our text this term is: The Little Green Dinosaur.

Handwriting

In Reception it is important that the children learn the correct letter fomations. At Alma Park we encourage the approach stroke. Please see the weekly brain builder to support this.

Topic

Our topic this half term is:  Dinosaurs/Spring

As part of our topic, we will be learning about the different types of dinosaur, what they eat, where they live and what they look like.

We are learning The Little Green Dinosaur story through talk for writing and writing our own sentences and stories about dinosaurs.

We will also create artwork related to dinosaurs.

We love to hear about special events and trips that your child has taken part in. Please take a 'Parent/Carer Child Observation Sheet' from the blue box by the Reception door. Fill it out at home and bring it back to us when you are ready. These sheets can go into your child's 'Topic Book' and are a great talking point during group sessions. Alternatively, you can use the email below to send any photographs of the lovely things you do at home.
