We aim to change our reading books once a week so it is important the children have their books in schools everyday so that we can hear the children read at every opportunity.

Our topic this half term is Dinosaurs

Our first text is:

The children will have the opportunity to explore the story in a variety of ways through our provision and activities both indoors and outdoors. We will be learning the story through our 'Talk For Writing' approach so you will soon see a story map in our class. Please ask your child to tell you the story. We love to retell our stories and enjoy making our very own class versions!

As part of our topic we will also be learning about the many different types of houses and homes there are. We will be exploring what makes a home and the favourite places in our own homes. We will also be exploring homes in Design and Technology and looking at shapes in the home in Maths. Walking around the local area will give us the opportunity to take photographs, observations and tallies of different types of houses and homes near our school.

We love to hear about special events and trips that your child has taken part in. Please take a 'Parent/Carer Child Observation Sheet' from the blue box by the Reception door. Fill it out at home and bring it back to us when you are ready. These sheets can go into your child's 'Topic Book' and are a great talking point during group sessions. Alternatively, you can use the email below to send any photographs of the lovely things you do at home.
