Welcome to Reception RL

Adults who work in RL:

Teacher: Miss Lynch

Teaching assistants: Mrs Bousi, Mrs Harrison

We aim to change our reading book at least once a week. It is important the children have their books in schools everyday so that we can hear the children read at any opportunity. Please read with your child daily and sign the reading record when you have done so.

We learn stories and texts through the 'Talk For Writing' approach. This includes learning a story off by heart using actions and expression, inovating the story and writing our own versions. Keep an eye out for the story maps in your child's brain builder. The children use these to help them retell the story.

Our first text is: Peace at last by Jill Murphy

In Reception it is important that the children learn the correct letter fomations. At Alma park we encourage the approach stroke. Please see the weekly brain builder to support this.

Our topic this half term is:  Starry, Starry Night

We will explore light and dark, nocturnal animals, enjoy a trip to Gauntlet in Knutsford to learn about owls and lots more!

We love to hear about special events and trips that your child has taken part in. Please take a 'Parent/Carer Child Observation Sheet' from the blue box by the Reception door. Fill it out at home and bring it back to us when you are ready. These sheets can go into your child's 'Topic Book' and are a great talking point during group sessions. Alternatively, you can use the email below to send any photographs of the lovely things you do at home.
